CLONE WARS Figure Multi-packs (Reviewed 09-7-2003 by Lord Spiceowan)
" This is going to be really cool if they can keep us happy and keep bringing out good products like Jedi Knight Army packs. " - If only Hasbro could figure out a way to stop the retool invasion, these are a heck of a start.
It is a wonderful thing to be seeing the massive influx of new Star Wars products in to retailers. Sure it only took 75% of the year but remember Troops, we had a dock crisis on the coast of California and nothing moved for weeks. I'm sure this is a slight possibility for Hasbro dropping the ball. However I'm sure it has to be more than that. The Jedi Knight Army will be a welcome edition to anyone's Star Wars collection. Sure you get 3 no name Jedi's, I'm still awed they couldn't put something as far as names are concerned on these three. Sure they seem to be frozen in one solid stance but I did discover one good thing with these during some field tests. Upon giving a set to my nine year-old son, he promptly asked the names. Twenty minutes later after I assured him I wasn't tricking him Padawan Swifty said "Oh I get it, you have to have some good guys killed right?" Truly amazing the mind of a child. So Greedos uncle, Bib Fortunas cousin and this fake looking Obi-Wan Kenobi all get to catch it every time you set up the Geonosis Play set! What a wonderful thing, so different than the 80's G.I. Joe cartoon series. Dead good guys, I like it not, everyone deserves a parachute! These figures really do offer more than just target practice for the Droid Army. Each one is posed for pardon the pun "Kickin' A$% and taking names!" The Rodian could be fending off some of the Super Battle Droid fire. There is probably not too much more you could do with him other than that! At least they didn't give us recycled parts to the extreme here. I figured we'd get repainted Plo Koons or Nitko and Luminara Unduli's packed up and sold back to us. I was shocked, they gave up three yes three all new figures. These are going to be a tough find I think, for a little while anyway. The true pain in the armor will be the Clone Trooper color variants. You'd think they could have packed in less Droid Launchers, and put in a few more of the Clone Troopers. While they do have some sissy like aspects to their characters, like their predecessor the Storm Trooper these will be in high demand whenever released. You just have to make them slightly different and they will sell every time. This is going to be really cool if they can keep us happy and keep bringing out good products like the Jedi Knight Army packs. Now if they could only find a way to stop the retool invasion, these are a heck of a start. The thing that really
ticked me off about this one is the human Jedi has some
really poor articulation to the feet. This makes for a
difficult time standing without his "army"
buddies. The Lightsabers are cheaper than what we are
used to in the regular figures, but again I stress, it
does not appear Hasbro used old molds. These will be a
great thing for loose collectors/diorama builders. The
more the merrier, I just hope they make many, many more.
I have to give things like this a thumbs up, even though
they could have at least been given names on the package.
I'm sure some Trooper out there knows their names!
